The unfurling fern head or koru in Te Reo Maori is one of the icons of New Zealand.
Adding a slimy trail is up to you. I think I’ll skip that level of realism.
Make the stem more slender and you’ve got a leaf. As it is, this tree is reminiscent of a Jacobean Crewelwork tree.
